The instrument is light in weight and can be operated either from battery power or on line. The range of response of the top-of-the-line AIphaGUARD PQ2000 extends over six orders of magnitude (up to 2,000,000 Bq/m3.). |

NRP BRE 250 & 293 Radon Survey Procedures
(Based on information from HPA. UK Radon, BRE, DEFRA)
DOMESTIC CUSTOMERS
- HPA/BGS new maps have highlighted housing stock in the UK that are in potentially high areas of Radon, the consumer can download a report which gives the risk factor of radon in their home and determine whether further investigation is required.
- In Areas where the readings are high which can be determined by either, previous 3 month etch track readings or by high radon probability from HPA/BGS map.
- Conduct BRE 250 Radon survey to determine ingress of Radon , utilisation of electronic meter as screening tool to confirm level of ambient radon is above action level, (As documented in BRE250) Utilise this data to instigate a 3 month etch track monitor.
- Complete BRE 250 with diagnosis of radon ingress
- Suggest preliminary remediation steps that can be undertaken reduce ingress as per BRE 250
- Complete remediation works
- Install Etch Track Monitors ( I unit upstairs one downstairs)
- Receive notification on long term reading
- Assess reading
- Provide remediation methods where applicable.
COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS
- HPA/BGS new maps have highlighted buildings in the UK that are in potentially high areas of Radon, the consumer can download a report which gives the risk factor of radon in their workplace and determine whether further investigation is required.
- In Areas where the readings are high which can be determined by either, previous 3 month etch track readings or by high radon probability from HPA/BGS map.
- Conduct survey following advice from BRE 293 to determine ingress of Radon , utilisation of electronic meter as screening tool to confirm level of ambient radon is above action level, (As documented in BRE293) Utilise this data to instigate a 3 month etch track monitor.
- Complete BRE 293 with diagnosis of radon ingress
- Suggest preliminary remediation steps that can be undertaken reduce ingress as per BRE 293
- Complete remediation works
- Install Etch Track Monitors ( This will vary dependant on site)
- Receive notification on long term reading
- Assess reading
- Provide remediation methods where applicable.
