Countess of Wessex meets Tom Jones at Plovers Field!

A story fit for the celebrity magazines but with an Exeter twist. Our own Tom Jones met the Countess at the Coastline Housing development at Plover’s Field in Crowntown on 19th September 2017.

The Countess was there to formally open this affordable housing scheme comprising 2 flats and 16 houses for rented and shared ownership for local people together with communal car park, treatment works and service diversions. Planners required enhanced elevation treatments including vertical slate hanging, natural stonework, and Cedar boarding. The externals included treatment of Japanese Knotweed, extensive stone boundary walls and Cornish hedging. The homes were built by Kier in only 11 months, with customers moving in at the beginning of this year. NRP were appointed as Employers Agent and Principal Designer.

As well as meeting Coastline Housing staff and the Project Team from Kier, the visit was a real community event with Her Royal Highness also meeting local groups, the pupils from the adjacent Sithney School, together with representatives from the Parish Council.

Coastline Housing were UK Housing Awards Finalist 2017 in the category for Outstanding Development Programme of the Year
