Elwick Place project architect shortlisted for Building Design magazine Architect of the Year Award

NRP would like to congratulate Guy Hollaway Architects for making the shortlist for the Building Design magazine “Architect of the Year Awards 2019” for the Elwick Place scheme in Ashford.

NRP worked alongside GHA as Project Managers on the multi-million-pound town centre development, for leading UK developers, Stanhope PLC, which opened in December 2018 on time and on budget.

Elwick Place, which sits opposite County Square Shopping Centre in the middle of Ashford town, now comprises a 1,000-seat, six-screen Picturehouse cinema, 9 food and beverage offerings, a new meeting and events space at Elwick Square, a 58 room hotel and a surface car park of 282 spaces.

The striking new picturehouse cinema is clad in a gold coloured, anodised aluminium mesh, shaped to wrap up the building from the first floor, and also shaped in sections to curve around the building’s facade. Set around a new square Elwick Place aims to cultivate a sense of community and creates a clear landmark destination for Ashford Town Centre. The project is part of Ashford Borough Council’s Big 8 projects which will benefit the whole borough and the town’s future prosperity.

We wish GHA good luck at the awards on 1st May 2019
