HRH PRINCE OF WALES VISITS REGENT ARCADE

On 25th November 2013, Canada Life Investments welcomed His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales to the Regent Arcade, Cheltenham, where the £22million redevelopment and refurbishment of the shopping centre has recently completed.

The 185,000 square feet property offers 60 stores and six food and beverage outlets and is home to a range of national and independent retailers. The arcade was originally opened in 1985 by HRH Princess Royal. The new development has provided the space needed to bring fashion giant H&M into Cheltenham and provide an upsized flagship store for River Island.

Norman Rourke Pryme have been project managers for Canada Life on the scheme since 2006 and have successfully managed this challenging, phased redevelopment of the Arcade since that time.

Works have been split over three principal phases with the most recent phase successfully delivered in partnership with contractor Willmott Dixon in July this year.

Works have included removal and replacement of the 160 metre long glazed roof, complete internal refurbishment and redevelopment of the High Street Areas. Throughout the works, the Arcade has remained trading successfully.
