St James’s Palace Forecourt and Cleveland Row Schemes

charle-largeHRH Prince of Wales and The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Lindsey Hall, were guests of honour at the launch event for the St James’s Palace Forecourt and Cleveland Row schemes earlier in March 2019.  Representatives from the Facilitators (Westminster City Council councillors and officers), the Sponsors (Crown Estate, Berry Brothers & Rudd and The Ritz), the Designers (WSP, NRP and Atkins) and the Constructors (FM Conway) watched as HRH Prince Charles completed planting of an ornamental tree within the new public realm space in Cleveland Row.

NRP was instrumental in the development of the concept design and traffic analysis of the St James’s Palace Forecourt scheme, applying detailed micro-simulation modelling to demonstrate the benefits of the public realm scheme. Our Director, Keith Firth, was introduced to HRH as part of the Design team and his short discussion focussed on how our traffic analysis was used to make sure the public realm scheme would be safe and effective for the many pedestrian visitors to the area. HRH commented on how impressed he was that the scheme was clearly very successful and worked very well, and congratulated us for our role in the project.
