NRP launches 'Cycle 535' charity challenge in support of Bikeworks

A team from Norman Rourke Pryme (NRP) will take on Cycle 535 this September – a five‑day, 535‑kilometre (332‑mile) charity ride from Land’s End to London’s Guildhall in support of Bikeworks, ahead of the London Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Conference (LWWCC).

The challenge has been organised to raise funds and awareness for Bikeworks, the award-winning social enterprise celebrating 20 years of breaking down barriers to cycling. Since its launch, Bikeworks has delivered more than one million inclusive cycling experiences and continues to transform lives by making cycling accessible to disabled people, older residents and communities facing health inequalities.

Cycle 535 reflects NRP’s long-standing support of the London Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Conference, sponsored annually by the practice in partnership with the London Borough of Hackney and the City of London Corporation. The challenge aims to champion the conference’s shared commitment to healthier, more sustainable and inclusive communities through active travel while supporting a charity whose mission closely aligns with those values.

Over five days, the riders will travel the length of southern England before arriving at Guildhall on the morning of the conference, where delegates will gather to discuss the future of walking, wheeling, cycling and healthier places.

The timing of the ride is particularly significant. September marks the start of Bikeworks’ 20th anniversary celebrations and follows the launch of Cycle Connect – an inclusive active travel initiative delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Hackney, with plans to expand alongside existing work for the City of London.

As co-hosts of the London Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Conference, Hackney Council and the City of London Corporation share Bikeworks’ ambition to create healthier, more accessible places through active travel, making Guildhall a fitting destination for Cycle 535.

The initiative reflects NRP’s commitment to supporting projects that create lasting social value and strengthen communities.

The team completing the full Cycle 535 route comprises Matt Kennedy, Alex Stebbings, Dean Walker, Ryan Hicks, Joe Cowley and Richard Wightman, who will cycle the entire 535km journey from Land’s End to London together.
