norman rourke pryme were appointed for hostmark’s roll out of Internet Data Centres throughout Europe. The Data Centre was executed as a fit–out within an existing partially occupied industrial unit, but required the building of a mezzanine floor throughout the warehouse and raised access flooring, with two floors of office accommodation for the control centre . All UPS, PDU, CRAC units along with external standby generators were required to provide N+1 resilience to the Data Centre. Due to the restricted site, the external standby generators were placed on the flat concrete roof and were craned into position, with extensive acoustic attenuation to alleviate noise transfer through the building to the tenant areas.
The Data Centres were designed and developed to 762W/m² heat rejection within existing buildings. The project was delivered on programme and within the cost parameters. During construction, the industry boom, meant that the Data Centre was sold on to a second Client, advantag-E, leading to the development team having to deal with further Client participants.
