RIBA National Award 2015 winner

We are delighted to have been involved as project managers and quantity surveyors for one of this years RIBA National Awards 2015 winners in the house category for Levring House. Designed by Jamie Fobert Architects located in the Bloomsbury Conservation area, this bold brick house infills a vacant corner plot to complete an historic mews.

Internally, the house’s concrete frame is exposed in ceilings and columns. The exterior is clad in brick and bronze. The bricks were handmade in Denmark; some bricks show the thumb prints of their craftsmen. The RIBA jury have praised the “heady mix of free-flowing space, light-filled voids, fastidious detailing and a brilliant regard for the surrounding context”. The House also featured ground source heat pumps, heat exchangers and photovoltaic panels.

The House has also been shortlisted for:

  • World Architecture News (WAN) House of the Year . It is the only UK house on the shortlist for this international award, which celebrates “houses that balance innovation with efficiency and functionality with aesthetic rigour”.
  • Camden Design Award 2015. The awards recognise high quality design in the Borough and aim ‘to shape what we build in the future’.
  • Best Non-Public Use Residential shortlist for the Blueprint Awards 2015

Congratulations to Martin Woodley who was involved in this project from inception to completion.
