Mubarak is a qualified Traffic Engineer and assists in the delivery of transportation engineering related projects, involving traffic engineering design and traffic modelling, using appropriate design guidance and software.
Mubarak graduated with BSc (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering in 2016 from the University of Khartoum and has three years’ experience in related field in Sudan. He pursued his master’s degree in Transport Planning and Engineering at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, and graduated in Jan 2022 with Distinction. He joined NRP in Mar 2022 as a Graduate member of the Traffic and Transportation team.
He is currently rapidly gaining experience in traffic schemes being involved in a wide range of projects, using his experience and practices he gained during his Master’s and Undergraduate studies.
Mubarak is becoming a proficient user of traffic modelling software having gained valuable experience during his Master’s degree with various software packages (e.g LinSig – Saturn – ARCADY – VISSIM). Mubarak further developed his understanding of VISSIM through his dissertation project to define a new VISSIM parameters to represent the traffic and driving behaviour in Brazil with focus on the behaviour of delivery motorcycles (Motoboys). Mubarak is now adding to this modelling knowledge in both older and newer versions of the microsimulation software and is gaining experience delivering projects following TfL’s MAP guidelines.
Working knowledge and practical experience of UK traffic design and modelling guidance including, but not limited to, the following: DfT Design manual for Roads and Bridges, SQA-0064 (TfL Design of Traffic Signals), Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, Manual for Streets, TfL Modelling guidelines, and TfL Model Auditing Process.
