Collins

Rob graduated from the University of Bath in 2018 with a first-class master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He joined NRP’s Traffic and Transportation team in January 2019. Through project work and the guidance of the expert NRP team, Rob has developed a strong knowledge of traffic design and the procedures involved in the conception and delivery of successful transport schemes.

He is skilled in the use of AutoCAD for traffic engineering applications and has a detailed knowledge of the production of spatial and numerical outputs with GIS software. As an accomplished Excel user, he understands the methodologies involved in the manipulation and analysis of complex data sets. He is practised in performing detailed observations of video footage, as well as having the key LinSig knowledge required to utilise this data in the modelling of traffic signal junctions.

Rob is experienced across a variety of design areas, including Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs), local junction design, Healthy Streets, and active travel schemes. He is proficient in the design of cycle infrastructure schemes, with experience in both the feasibility and outline design stages.

Working knowledge and practical experience of UK traffic design and modelling guidance including, but not limited to, the following: DfT Design manual for Roads and Bridges, LTN 1/20, Traffic Signs Manual, Manual for Streets 1 & 2, London Cycle Design Standards, TfL Healthy Street Approach, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD), TfL Traffic Modelling Guidelines.
