The 2,700 sq. ft development commissioned by Stansted Mountfitchet Parish Council, comprises the demolition of a former telephone exchange, which was used as a library, and the construction of a new multi-purpose single storey building with associated car parking, landscaping, cycle parking, signage /seating and refuse and recycling facilities. The new building will re-house the library and provide meeting rooms and other facilities for council and library staff.
The site is adjacent to the existing Parish Council Offices, Clinic, Day Centre and Public Car Park and the surrounding properties are mainly residential with a few commercial and retails units.
Planning was obtained in 2013 but works did not commence on site until the latter part of 2016.
The building was renamed by the Parish Council as Mountfitchet Exchange in honour of the old telephone exchange.
